"Old" postcard showing Water Street looking South with Keane's newstand on left. Typed note: Water St. looking south - 1st bldg on left housed Sidner's Delicatessen and later son-in-law Henry Friedman's Clothing store. Blgd. with columns at one time United States Post Office. In early 1920s, Reuben Rosen's clothing store - hanging sign out front "Suits and cloaks - boots and shoes". He later moved his business to corner Water and Pearl Sts. Various businesses have since occupied, beauty parlor and succession of antique shops. The door (under hanging lantern) led to second and third floors of Mrs. Cassidy's Boarding House. Her daughter, Kate Straiat, had a dressmaking business there also. South - Keane's News Stand next. Since before 1917 this location has always been a newsstand.
