Description

Wooden sailmaker's bench with holes for fids. A "fid" is a pin, originally of a hard wood, that tapers to a point and is used in opening strands of rope to be bound off. The fids shown here were used for working heavy rope. 8 fid holes; made of two planks of wood with four legs. Contains 5 fids of varying sizes.
