The Whitfield Elm, Stonington CT (note on slide indicates Pequot Trail)
In July of 1747, Reverend George Whitfield, the great Revivalist, preached a sermon beneath this tree. The Stonington Chronology mentions it was across from Center Church, and as of 1949, the tree was still standing in front of the home of Dr. Roy W. Miner.
