Description

Transferware decorated Liverpool creamware jug or pitcher depicting Battle of Stonington (Aug 9-10, 1814). Front side depicts five ships in Stonington harbor. It reads "The gallant defense of Stonington August 9, 1814. Stonington is free whilst her heros have one gun left." The back side has a color picture of an American ship. The initials "HR" OR "WR" appear under the spout. This is one of two pitchers and has a white background. Liverpool creamware black transfer and polychrome comemorative pitcher.
