Description

Mary Rossiter Palmer was born December 26, 1901 in Stonington to Noyes Palmer and Annie Williams, an only child. Her father was a farmer and owned property on Montauk Avenue. She graduated in the class of 1919 from Stonington High School. Her mother died in May of 1925. The following year, on August 22nd, 1926 she married Herman Augustus Myers of Westerly in New London. After their marriage, the couple moved in with Mary’s father, Noyes, but a few years later relocated to Westerly. By 1940, Mary was working as a property manager for a real estate company. She and Herman never had any children. Herman died in 1976. Mary died in Florida in 1992. She was very well connected and a member of many philanthropic and social organizations including the Misquamicut Golf Club, Watch Hill Yacht Club, Mayflower Society of Connecticut, National Audubon Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Denison Society and the Watch Hill Improvement Society. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Stonington with her parents and husband.
