View of "The Reading Room" from the Designer's Show House, 1989. This room now (2024) serves as the Gift Shop of the Captain Palmer House, and was most likely a reception room for businessmen who came to meet with Captain Palmer and would not have been invited into the family’s parlor, across the hall. This room was reimagined as a reading room by Spada and Vanderbeck Interiors at The Business in the Barn, Hadlyme, CT. Designers were Charles Spada and Tom Vanderbeck.Collection
