Handwritten on back: "BRYANT GM 2/C, LOADING A 40 MM - HUCK Y 3/C (WITH THE HAT) BOTH DARN NICE FELLOWS - I THINK WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST CREWS OF THE WHOLE AMPHIB FLEET!" (GM 2/C - Gunner's Mate, 2nd Class). Weeks was born in Stonington on March 16, 1922 and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII.
