Women and children disembarking from the train at Stonington station, most likely for the launching of the SS Lansing from the Stonington docks on May 20, 1919. The young woman in the large hat closest to the photographer may be Dorothy Mercadante, daughter of the Nafra Company founder, Joseph Mercadante, who was charged with blessing the ship before her launch. The other people may be members of the Ship Construction and Trading Company, and their families, or other employees of the Nafra Company. The Lansing steamship was rebuilt by the Ship Construction and Trading Company, Inc. of Stonington for the Nafra Company of New York.Made/Created
