Scope and Content

"Model of Long Island Sound Steamer RHODE ISLAND. The original 588 ton vessel was built in 1836 and sailed from New York to Stonington, Newport and Providence until 1849. The vessel was lost en route to California in 1850. This model in the Lighthouse Museum, Stonington Ct was built by Manuel Jerome Francis."
