"This house was built in 1852 and is now maintained and open to the public by the Stonington Historical Society. It was the home of Nathaniel Brown Palmer who discovered the continent of Antarctica in 1821 in the sloop HERO. This building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1996 by the United States National Park Service."
