Malacca cane made of a yellow-brown wood with brass around tip, originally owned by Courtlandt Babcock (b. 1806 in Stonington, died 1853). The head piece is a white ball (ivory?). This cane has a secret compartment about 6" from the top, where it comes apart to reveal a hidden dagger. Metal blade? shows rust, orginally finish black with gold chased designs.
