Large black metal bank box. Front door has been painted with a flower, lock on front. Inside of box lined with wood and split into two compartments. Number in white on top of box but not totally visible. A number pressed into the metal reads "882." Tag attached to box reads, "Vault, containing postal funds. Taken by 'yeggmen' from safe and found near 'Grand View Park,' about one mile fro post-office. Presented by N.P. Noyes. P.M." Inside is a postcrd, possibly of the safe, the picture shows a destroyed building inside. Also inside is a partly bent dial from a safe reading 'Sargent & Greenleaf Rochester, NY" and a list of patets fro Sept. 18, 1860 to July 14, 1871.Collection
