Scope and Content

New Haven, 1775 Oct 27 Order to pay the only soldier wounded during the naval attack at Stonington by Captain James Wallace. George Wyllys, Secretary of the Colony of Connecticut, attested to copy of an order to pay Jonathan Weaver, Jr. for injuries sustained at the Battle of Stonington on August 30, 1775. Weaver was the only patriot injured in the battle. "...he was a Minuteman in Capt Oliver Smith's Company & that he received a dangerous wound at the attack upon Stonington Long Point..." The Assembly awarded Weaver L12.4.4 It is receipted on verso by Nathaniel Minor on behalf of Weaver.
