Stonington 1776 March 24 Receipt signed by Simon Rhodes for funds received from Major Oliver Smith for "6 Musquets for the Colony's use..." for L15-0-0 Simon Rhodes (1716-1784) was a Stonington resident and large landowner. During the Revolution he was a captain in the State Militia. Major Oliver Smith at this point was in charge of the defenses of Stonington Point.
