Scope and Content

New London March 12 1777 "A provision return of Capt. Calkins Company in Col. Ely's Regt. for 71 Men for the Company" Signed by Robert Stanton, Lt. Robert Stanton was a Stonington soldier who served, was a 2nd Lt. in State Regiments in 1776-1777 under the commands of Generals Wooster and Spencer in the 4th Battalion under the command of Col. Jon Ely of Lyme. In January 1777 his regiment marched from New London to Providence because of British threats.
