Stonington May 23 1778 Deposition by Mr. Nathan Stanton sworn before Nathaniel Minor, Justice of the Peace, that he "had manufactured seventy six bushels of good merchantable salt between the first of January AD 1777 and the first of February 1778..." On verso "This certify that the within Named Mr Nathan Stanton hath manufactured in this Town and of Sea, or Natural Salt Water seventy six bushels of Good Marchantable Salt, which he hath sold to the Inhabitants of this State" Signed by Peleg Chesebrough and John Williams, Selectmen Samuel Plumbe added a receipt for payment in the amount of L7.12.0
