July 1779 A receipt for "Return of Purchases Made for Henry Champion" for cattle. Four of the people listed are from Stonington: George Smith, Peleg Noyes, Thomas Swan and Thomas Wheeler along with the number of cattle and money paid them. Receipted by Seth Grosvenor. Seth Grosvenor was Commissary for State of Connecticut Henry Champion was Deputy Commissary General.
