New Haven Setpembour ye 17th 1776 "Deer Fathar & Mothar I take this oppertunity [to] enform you [that] I and David is in Good helth thru the Goodness of God. And I hope that these Lines will find you all in the Same State of helth[.] We have fared very well By the Way and I expect to march from heir abut 1 a clock to Day [.] I should [be] very glad to se you all--- Remember with Love D[erias] Dennison and wife and to Uncle Samuel Minor folks and to all othar enquiring friends and To no more at presant. But I remain you Deer Son until Death Amos Minor" Amos Miner (born 1754) was the eldest of nine children born to David Miner and Bethia Miner of Stonington. Amos served in Col. Smith's Regiment, Captain William Stanton's Company and saw action at the Battle of White Plains. Amos' brother David, age 19, went with him into service.
