"Honored father I take this opportunity to enform you that I and David is in good helth threw the Goodness of God [.] We expect to march from this place to morro [to] a place called harlum River [.] This is east [?] of New York [.] I don't [?] no when we shall be Relest. I have no neus at present But we expect to have a annatact [an attack] Every Day But I hope that god will scatter our Enemy and case [chase?] them to [?] before us.
David is enlisted into the Continent [Continental] Servis for three months.

Amos Miner (born 1754) was the eldest of nine children born to David Miner and Bethia Miner of Stonington. Amos served in Col. Smith's Regiment, Captain William Stanton's Company and saw action at the Battle of White Plains.
