Photographic postcard depicting the Whaling Days float for the Battle of Stonington centennial in August 1914. The gentleman standing at the rear of the boat is identified as Charles E. Staplin 2nd. The man standing at he front of the boat with the light colored hat, holding the harpoon is identified as William H. Hallett. Reverse of the photograph identified the two men above and reads : "The whaleboat was brought expressly from New Bedford for the pageant." Photograph taken on Elm Street near the Town Hall, the Velvet Mill is visible in right background.Collection
