Photograph from the Harry Northup album (2015.019.002), cyanotype with enlarged print. Caption from Harry Northrup: "The coal dock in the Borough, probably in the early nineteenth century. Note, the piles of coal on boat docks. There are two schooners, one on the north side of the dock (probably unloading coal) and one at anchor or possibly getting set to sail. There are three catboats between the docks and the dark hull could be sloop rigged, with the bowsprit. Nearest in the picture are seven rowing skiffs, carvel planked, with beautiful wine glass sterns. Rowing them around the harbor must have been a real pleasure. Wamphassuc Point is in the background and was a big farm then, owned by the Palmers."Collection
