Revolutionary War Costume a- Jacket machine made with hand stitching on interfacing and inside cuffs red wool with brown velvet trim from unde collar to unfinished skirt edge 2 1/2 inch collar 3 1/2 inch cuffs ten one inch diameter flat brass buttons on each front side three on each cuff and one on each skirt trim four below each front false pocket two large metal hook and eye closures at mid chest (L) chest inside pocket lining of tan cotton appears to been added stenciled on inside lining is a one inch # 12 lining in sleeve is a different fabric evidence of black threads inside (L) and (R) sleeves, ? rank path two brass button at back waist deep skirt pockets cleaning label reads: 3-7059-9 Lue b- Waistcoat machine made, white wool front with muslin lining nine button closure, round flat brass bottons four pockets, two on each front side measuring 3 1/2 X 4 1/2 inches across one inch mandarin collar back of unbleached muslin with one button (broken) tabs sewn into side seams cleaning label same # as for jacket c- Breeches black velvet machine and hand stitching 5 inch slash pockets, 2 1/2 inch right waist inside pocket with faded ink script reads ?? D Mc ?Nieall May 25, 1887? (could this be a Daniel McNieall of DerryField, N.H., surveyor of highways 1905) front flap, one black button remains two metal buttons remain at waistband lining is same as jacket cleaning label same as for jacket and waistcoat d- Hat French style cocked hat of brown felted wool with black velvet binding cockade of brass wire mesh in which gold colored 1/8 inch cording is woven to create a circular dsign e- Cravat handstitched embroidery of brown thread on sheer cream cotton 48 1/2 inches long X 6 inches wide tightly knotted on both ends (knots untied for storage) f- Pom pom red wool pom pom attached to a metal prong, usually worn on a shako g- Sword holder of metal with loop for attaching to belt/waist h- Satin pouch machine made, contained sword attachment i- Stockings pair of black wool ribbed stirrup socks, 22 inches long Box 68 is located in Section C Shelf 7.
