Civil War Military Senior Officer Uniform Costume a- Frock navy wool, unhemmed mandarin collar lined with black velvet doubled breasted with 14 brass Scovill buttons with A on shield indicating Artillary 3 smaller buttons on each cuff placements for epaulettes 2 deep pockets on skirt back with 4 buttons as above lining dark green cotton, quilted at breast interior breast pockets muslin sleeve lining handsewn to armasage b- Trousers bright blue wool ( USMC sky blue) red wool seam welt, red indicates Artillary USMC French pockets and watch pocket 15 metal buttons painted with black enamel belted back wide strip of linen lining to each front lower leg c- Sash crimson silk machine knit sash with 8 inch wooden core tassels 129 inches long by 7 inches wide indicates USNCSO ( US noncomissioned senior officer) worn tied at left hip
