Description

Photograph depicting the plank bridge, now referred to as the causeway, that leads from Stonington Borough to Salt Acres. The reverse side reads : "Plank Road to Chesebro House". This is in reference to Erastus Chesebro, who went to California during the Gold Rush and returned with enough money to build a spacious mansion in 1869. This view is taken from Salt Acres, looking back toward the Borough School, and the Samuel D. Denison home, later home of Eugene Atwood at the end of Church Street.
