Sarah Adamson was born October 9, 1898 in Stonington. Census information from 1900 and 1910 record her father’s name as George or Robert. He worked at the Velvet Mill to support his wife, three daughters and son. The 1900 Census recorded the family living on Bay View Avenue, by 1910 they were on Bradley Street, and in 1920 were living on School Street in the Borough. That same year, Sarah was working as a nurse in a hospital, while her younger sister Violet worked as a schoolteacher. By 1940, Sarah had moved to New York and was working as a registered nurse in Manhattan. Ten years later, she was living with her sister Violet, who was working as a dental hygienist, and Sarah was back working in a hospital setting. The sisters lived on East 68th Street. She died December 13, 1976, and is buried in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. She never married.Made/Created
