Two letters written by Hannah Phelps Noyes and her son Henry Babcock Noyes in January of 1850.
Hannah's letter is dated January 1, 1850 and is brief. It mentions the family's Christmas celebrations and hopes that her son is looking after himself in the Canadian wilderness. She also briefly mentions Captain Palmer, who had inquired after her son.
Henry's letter is dated January 7, 1850 and is much longer. He describes his travels through Canada to that point and the beauty of the landscape. He mentions Hamilton, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Port Davis, Port Dover, Montnell and Detroit. His mentions of the quality and quantity of lumber may indicate why he was in Canada at this time.
