After the accidental launch of the SS Lansing, on May 20, 1919. Dignitaries, company representatives and their families arrived for the launching, only to see that the ship had slid into the water early. The group looks toward the harbor from the viewing platform. A photographer is visible on the rooftop at the far right. Despite the ship launching itself early, these photographs were probably taken for publicity for the two companies. The Lansing steamship was rebuilt by the Ship Construction and Trading Company, Inc. of Stonington for the Nafra Company of New York.Made/Created
