Framed original indenture that announces the sale of 3 acres and 60 perches of land from William Garrett & his wife Debby and the adjacent 1 acre, 100 perches from William Garrett to establish a school house and schoolmaster's house for the Goshen Monthly Meeting on January 20, 1783. The School, known as the Sugartown Select School, operated for most of the years from the time it was constructed in 1784 until the Trustees of the Goshen Monthly Friends sold the property in 1903. This is the property located at the corner of Sugartown and Spring Road and is part of the Sugartown National Historic Register District.Context
