JournalScope and Content
The Garrett Family Manuscript Collection (MSS 002) consists of local deeds and estate papers dating back as early as 1772. Some of the deeds are on vellum or oversized and fragile. A few family papers can be found in this collection as well; there is a poem for Sarah Garrett written by her father in 1834, and the Maris Garrett journal from 1864 includes daily entries, mostly weather reports and some family news.
This collection is rich in artifacts and photographs. Additionally, a few artifacts from Warren Garret, including a pendant from a local masonic lodge, Thompson Lodge no. 340 from 1907. Family bibles from the Garrett and Lewis families containing family history and notes, can be found in this collection as well.Context
