Context

Front of Item Transcription: Bristol to wit} GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of GOD, of Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Fait, &c. To the Sheriff, his Deputy, or to either of the Town-Sergeants, or Constables, of Our County of Bristol WHEREAS Samuel Miller of Warren in the County of Bristol and colony of Rhode Island [?] Commenced an Action of the Case against Phillip Traffam of Barrington in the Same County of Bristol [?] at a Justices Court held at Said Warren, the Twenty Sixth Day of January ad 1771 where the said Samuel Miller recovered a Judgment of Court against Phillip Traffern for Eight Shilling and five Pence three farthings Debt and Costs of Suit, taxed at Four Shillings & 1 Penny as Record of said Court appears: Which Sums in the Whole amount to Twelve Shillings and Six pence three farthings Lawfull Money for which Execution remains to be done. WE Command you therefore, that of the Good and Chattels of the said Phillip Traffern. (within your Precint) you execute and levy the said Sum of Twelve Shillings and Six pence three Farthings at the Value thereof in Money as aforesaid, together with six pence for this Execution, and the return thereof, as also the lawful Fees that shall be due for the Serving thereof, and therewith satisfy and pay the aforesaid Samuel Miller. And for want of sufficient Estate of the said Phillip Traffern to be by you found to satisfy and pay the same aforesaid, We command you to take the Body of the said Phillip Traffern into your Custody, and him safely secure in our Gaol in said Bristol until that he satisfy and pay the aforesaid Samuel Miller the Sums aforesaid or that he be by him discharged therefrom. Hereof fail not, but make true Return within forty Days from this Date, how you serve this Execution.
