Transcription:
At Gothenburg This Twenty first day of September One Thousend [THOUSAND] Seven hundred & Seventy two Year, It is fully ended & agreed upon betwixt Nathaniel Whiting Master of the Sloop the Polly of Rhode Island on the one part, & Scott & Fraser Merchants in Gothenburg on the other part, in manner following, That is to say, the said Nathaniel Whiting freights & letts his said Sloop the Polly [?] to the said Scott & Fraser Merchants in Gothenburg, in termes after mentioned, for plying the Voyage, from this Port & River of Gothenburg, where She now lyes, to the port & Harbour of St Croix in the West Indies. Therefore I the said Nathaniel Whiting Master aforesaid confess to have freighted my said Sloop the Polly & hereby oblige my self, to have her fit & every way well Equipp'd to go to sea, & for takeing on board such a Cargo, as the Said Scott & Fraser - shall think proper to Ship on board her; and by the Tenour hereof I am hereby obliged to lye with my said Ship six working weatherly days, for takeing on board such a Loading, as the said Scott & Fraser - shall think fit to Ship on board said Ship, with which Cargo, I am hereby obliged to proceed first fair wind & weather to the Port & Harbour of St Croix and there to lye, Six working weatherly days for discharging of said Cargo, & then the Voyage to terminate, for which the said Scott & Fraser - obliges themselfs or agents to pay, or cause be paid to the said Nathaniel Whiting or to any haveing power to Receive the same, the sum of Ninety Pounds Sterling money in Name of Freight, with two thirds PortCharges & five [?] Caplaken. Likewise by the Tenour hereof [?] obliged to pay the said Nath Whiting, or foresaids the sum of One Guinea Sterling pr. Day of demurage, after the above Lye days are expired: And the same aforesaid Freight & PortCharges [?] oblige myself, to pay or cause be paid within Twenty four hours after discharging said Cargo, at the aforesaid Port or Harbour of St. Croix.
And both Parties are content to perform their Engangements Each to other under the felzie of fifty Pounds Sterling Money to be paid by the Party breaker to the party performer or willing to perform.
