Photograph of a watercolor portrait of Samuel B. Melendy. Artist unknown. Writing on back: "Samuel B. Melendy. c. 1825. The Melendy family lived in this house [6 Main St.] for almost 100 years. The homestead finally passed out of their hands in 1919. Update: November 2021. The original portraits of Samuel and Everline (Boutelle) Melendy are oil rather than watercolor and belong to Charles and Ann Darling. Charles is the great-great grandson of Samuel Melendy. The portraits were likely painted by Thomas Badger and given as gifts to each other before marriage.
