Scope and Content

Sleep noble warrior, sweetly sleep The tomb is now thy bed. Cold is its bosom. thou dost rest In sacred silence with the dead. We tell thy doom with many a sigh. How rose thy morning sun, How quickly to alas! it set. Warrior thy march is done. No mothers loving hand he felt. No sister near to cheer: Alone he died, our Country's pride. A Union Volunteer. In Memoriam of Segt. Chas. H. Phelps who fell at the battle of Gettysburg Jul 3, 1863 "Requeiseat in Grace"
