Harry Jones Shellman was the second child of Catherine Janes and Col. James Meriwether Shellman. He was born in 1843. He is the older brother of Mary Bostwick Shellman. By 1880, Harry had moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he co-founded The Indianapolis People newspaper. Like his sister Mary, Harry was also a poet and writer, and he occasionally wrote music. One composition attributed to him is the patriotic piece "Old Glory," with music by Edward Graves. Harry Jones Shellman died in 1894 in New York.Acquisition
