Clock, tall case. Works by Eli Bentley, Taneytown, Frederick County, MD., c.1785. 89"h x 26.5"w x 13.25"d. A: case; mahogany; broad cove molding, plain feet, ornate arched waist door with herringbone inlay in criss-cross ribbon pattern with compass star at center and half stars at top and bottom; fluted quarter columns. 86" x 22" x 13". B: hood; flat top with flanking turned colonettes; arched door with original glass. 26" x 26.5" x 13.25". C: works; engraved brass dial marked "Eli Bentley Taney Town," has vase and vine design, spandrels decorated with birds and conch shells. D: pendulum; round, flat lead weight; probably a replacement. E, F: mismatched pair of weights. G: key for winding; brass with wood knob. H: pendulum, broken, found inside case, possibly original to clock; weight is lead with brass face.Acquisition
