Clock, tall case. C. 1800. 97.875"h x 24.5"w x 11.75"d. Primary wood is walnut; secondary wood is yellow pine. A: body, 90.25"h x 18.25"w x 10.25"d. Tall, plain trunk with concave molding at top. Door has arched top and brass escutcheon. Dial plate has neoclassical and rococo motifs; raised design of an urn surrounded by elaborate scrolling; ornate scroll designs at each corner; all have been gilded. Roman numerals on dial. Below dial is "Jacob Hostetter" in script and below this is "Hanover". Handmade iron chain and 3 weight system for running works. B: hood, 31.375"h x 24.5"w x 11.75"d. Flat topped pediment with Greek key design around top edge of cornice. Rectangular window with arched top on each side. Front corner columns are fluted with brass capitals; back columns are smooth with wood base and capital C: pendulum. D,E: weights.Acquisition
