Bowl, punch. Punch bowl with underplate. A: punch bowl, measures 9.125" in diameter by 4.125" high. The interior and exterior surfaces of the plate are ornamented with a transfer design with a blue on white web pattern background around 5 Chinese scenes in yellow, dark pink, and green. Bowl slopes down to a deep octagonal foot ring, inside which a mark in a scroll motif reads "Rd No. 623294 / This Pattern was introduced / by William Adams in 1780 / being a copy of a Chinese pattern / & one of the first of its style / produced in English pottery." A blue pseudo-signature mark reads "Wm Adams". Bowl may be made by William Adams. c. 1925. B: plate, octagonal, measures 10.5" x in diameter by 1.25" high. The surface of the plate is ornamented with a transfer design with a blue on white web pattern background around 5 Chinese scenes in yellow, dark pink, and green. Plate rests on a very shallow foot ring, inside which a mark in a scroll motif reads "Rd No. 623294 / This Pattern was introduced / by William Adams in 1780 / being a copy of a Chinese pattern / & one of the first of its style / produced in English pottery." A blue pseudo-signature mark reads "Wm Adams". Handwritten yellow mark reads "5796." Plate may be made by William Adams. c. 1925.Acquisition
