Sampler. Alphabet sampler. Natural linen with cross, eyelet and 2-sided line stitches in brown, pink, orange, blue, green and yellow. 4 and a half alphabets. Trees, dats and a swan across bottom. Signed "Susannah Root work done in mar garet Corcoran's sch". C.1816. 17" x 12.5" [Was framed by conservator for exhibit at Maryland Historical Society; is still in frame]
