Chest, blanket. Dated 1787. Walnut with inlays. Large chest over drawers, also called a kistch; rectangular with hinged lid; two small drawers at bottom. Body, lid, drawers fronts, and bracket feet are walnut; bottom and back and drawer sides and bottom are tulip poplar. Initials of the owner "S L" are inlaid on front flanking lock. Very ornate hand wrought strap hinges on lid. Hinges are stamped "D B" for David Barnhart of Uniontown, who made them; hinges are also marked "SALOME:LM" and "1787" for the owner and the year of construction.
