Clock, tall case. Plain square base, bracket feet. Rectangular body, wood door, hinged, concave top corners. Flat top hood. Hinged glass door with arched top, four narrow fluted columns on corners. Pointed oval cut-outs with glass on each side of hood. Face has painted black bird at top, Roman numerals with 'IV' written as 'IIII.' Written in script on bottom part of face "George Long Hanover." Descended in Joseph W. Allender's family. Bequeathed to HSCC in Mr. Allender's will with the provision that the clock would remain in Mrs. Allender's possession until her death. Mr. Allender died in 1968; Mrs. Allender died 4 October 1977 and clock was turned over to HSCC by Trust Division of Maryland National Bank, executor of the estate.
