Description

Coverlet. Mathias Mann. Jacquard; warp of natural and blue cotton; weft of natural, red and navy wool. Two pieces, seamed down center. Field has rows of four round floral medallions, separated by row of three 8-pointed stars. Wide border. Two corner blocks, each with 8-pointed star; one marked "M. MANN"; the other marked "JACOB BEAHL."

Original deed of gift reads "C-1143-1 Coverlet made by M. Mann for Jacob Cover - became possession of Mrs. John Beahl Cover". Donor was Mrs. Cover's daughter. Several coverlets were accessioned twice by creating a duplicate deed of gift in the late 1970s. This may be one .
