Description

Coverlet. John K. Striebig. Jacquard; warp of natural cotton; weft of red and blue wool. Two pieces, seamed down center. Field has rows of medallions composed of 4 large flowers, alternating with rows of stars with 8 double-points. Two identical corner blocks read "MARY BEASMAN MADE BY JOHN K. STRIEBIG 1842."

Context

The coverlet was made for Mary Beasman by John K. Striebig (b. 1 July 1798 – d. 16 May 1868) who was born and died in York County, PA. He is buried in Salem Union Cemetery Jacobus, York County.
