Coverlet. Woven, 83" across including fringe, 88.5" lengthwise, cream cotton warp, light blue, pinkish red, and dark blue wool weft, star and floral/geometric motif, grapevine inner border, small star outer border, 2 panels stitched together lengthwise, top edge is rolled and hemmed, bottom edge has a short fringe of the warp threads, sides are weft-fringed, made by Andrew Kump, Hanover, for Elizabeth Miller, near Pleasant Hill, PA, 1841.Context
Elizabeth Miller (b. 13 Oct. 1822 - d. 13 Feb. 1894) married William Francis Zumbrun, Jr. (May 26, 1819, d. June 13, 1883). Both are buried in Sherman's Church Cemetery, south of Pleasant Hill, PA. The coverlet later passed to an ancestor of the donor, bringing it into Carroll County. The coverlet was given to the donor by his father, Morris M. W. Zumbrun.Acquisition
