Description

Coverlet. William H. Gernand. Jacquard; warp of natural and blue cotton; weft of natural cotton with red, green and navy wool. Two pieces, seamed down center. Alternating rows of floral medallions and rows of medalliona formed by four large leaves with stems joined at center. Wide border of vine and leaves. Woven maker’s block reads: "W.H. GERNAND DAMASK COVERLET MANUFACTURER WESTMINSTER CA RROLL COUNTY, MD 1872." Owner's block reads "C.A. SHIPLEY."
