Description

Chest of drawers. Empire style bureau. Large overhanging drawer over three graduated drawers, all with walnut front boards and pulls, inlaid ivory escutcheons and steel locks, turned half-spindle maple columns below inlaid rectangles of birds-eye maple surrounded by bands of mahogany veneer. Top and edges of mahogany veneer (chipped and repaired); paneled walnut side boards and paneled back boards. Refinished; John S. Gooding, refinished, Oakton, VA, label inside top drawer. 48"h x 49.5"w x 22.5"h. Probably Frederick County, MD, c. 1825-1840.
