Desk, slant-top. Walnut, 44.5" x 43" x 22.5". It is a Chippendale design with fluted columns on the two front vertical corners. It has two pull-out supports for the desk top, and four exposed drawers with reeding on drawer front edges. The desk lid is hinged, and eight compartments and eight drawers flank a doored compartment with hidden drawers beneath.Acquisition

Note
According to previous inventory, the piece has been long-owned by the Shriner family. Thelma Shriner recalled that the piece was brought to the U.S. by the first member of the Shriner family to emigrate - George Shriner - but piece is obviously of American, not English, construction. Stood on the second floor landing of the main staircase in Hard Lodging.
