Document was inserted inside the rear cover of the Shaw family Bible. Part of a collection from the Shaw and Weant families. Edward O. Weant, Jr. is a former State Senator for Carroll County and former Judge of Special Appeals in the Fifth Circuit Court, Carroll County. His great-grandfather, Francis J. Shaw, was a Chief Judge from Frederick County’s 11th Election District. Judge Weant’s grandfather, Frank T. Shaw, M.D., was a noted Carroll County politician, serving many posts on national and state regulating boards. His father, Edward O. Weant, also was a lawyer. Edward O. Weant, Jr. attended Western Maryland College, Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and the University of Maryland Law School. He entered the U.S. Army as a Private in 1942 and was Honorably discharged as a captain in 1946. Judge Weant was involved in many business and civic activities. He and his wife, Sarah (Morriss) Weant, are donors of this gift.
