General Notes

Note

Luther Oliver Eckard married Rachel Rebecca Stonesifer on December 2, 1913. Luther Eckard (d.1940) was a paperhanger, operating his own business out of his home at 63 Pennsylvania Avenue in Westminster. The Eckards had two daughters, Caroline Elizabeth(b.1915 - d. 1977), and Loretta (b.1917 - d.1925, of scarlet fever) and adopted another, Ruth Ellen (b. 1928), after her mother died of influenza. Luther Eckard was also on the Consistry of Baust Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tyrone, Md., for many years. After Luther Eckard's death, the family moved to another house on Littlestown Pike. The donor of this gift, Mrs. Richard (Ruth Ellen Eckard) Bollinger, is the daughter of Luther and Rachel Eckard. Most of the unidentified photographs in this collection are believed to be from the Stonesifer family.
