Painting. A: painting; acrylic on board. Shows the buildings of the Englar & Sponseller mill at the northeast corner of Liberty and Green Streets in Westminster. Large brick structure at the right; elevator and mill buildings at center; truck with wood slat sides in front of buildings; Western Maryland Railroad tracks in foreground. By Joseph William Hendren; painting not signed. Probably early 1960s. 16” x 16.5” B: oak frame; undecorated. 19” x 19.5” x 1”.

Painted by donor's father-in-law, Joseph William Hendren (b.? - d. 27 February 1993 in St. Cloud, Florida) Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Central Florida from Westminster, in 1966. He was a professor of English at Western Maryland College. Survivors were: wife, Alice; daughters, Jean Shaffer, Mary A. Schumacher, brother, Melvin.
