Handwritten in ink and pencil. Approximately 24 unlined pages. Composition book from Howe & Ferry, Booksellers, 76 Bowery, N.Y. Cover is thin cardboard covered with mottled teal and tan, pebble-like pattern paper. Entitled "Mary B. Schellman’s [sic] Composition Book, May 15th, 1865." 8.5" x 7" x .25".
